Amber Drift

This image was captured at Jackson Falls in the Shawnee National Forest, right at the crown of the waterfall. The pool below was veiled in mystery, its depths hidden beneath a tapestry of autumn leaves. Hundreds of them floated together, layering the water in copper, gold, and crimson—like a portal disguised as a forest pond. With no way of knowing how deep it truly was, the scene felt less like a waterfall’s edge and more like the threshold to another realm.
